5 Sensory Toys for Your Children to Use in the Sunshine

Thursday 21st June marked the beginning of summer time in the UK. With that in mind I wanted to share some popular sensory toys for children this summer. It’s understandable how important sensory play is for children, especially those with disabilities and additional needs such as autism.

Duck pond

The duck pond by The Entertainer is only £5. It’s suitable for 2 children to play with from 3-years-old. The product comes with an inflatable pond, 2 large ducks, 2 small ducks, a fishing rod, and a timer. The aim is to hook as many ducks as you can while the timer is running.

Galt 6 finger paints

Available on Learning Space’s website, you can purchase this product for £5.99 (plus £4 delivery). This product helps children to develop their motor skills as they learn different colours and textures. Each pot of paint is 100ml which gives you child the chance to print their hands several times.

Kid Active Pop-Up Play Tent

This colourful pop-up tent is available to order with Smyths Toy Store. The great thing about this product is that it doesn’t need any poles. It folds away so it’s easy to store. And it’s ideal for children to want to take mini adventures in the garden.

Tobar Magic Sand

There’s something about sand that reminds me of the sand play in nursery. This underwater sand modelling kit includes a water tub, coloured sand, a funnel, sculpting tools, and plastic sea creatures. This is guaranteed to make sure your child has fun in the sun!

Did you know that Redbank House have 2 fabulous sensory rooms in Manchester?

What sensory toys will you be purchasing for your children during summer?

Around the World Bar in Manchester Launch New Summer Cocktails

This post is in collaboration with Around the World Bar in Manchester. Free cocktails and food on a Thursday night – I couldn’t complain!

The bar is located in Bierkeller’s Entertainment Complex in the Printworks. I was very excited to be present at the launch of their new summer themed cocktails. Especially as it was the perfect opportunity to network with other bloggers.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in Manchester at the Printworks

Imagine sitting in the cinema at the Printworks, Manchester waiting for a film to start and Kevin Hart and Ice Cube make an appearance. It was actually them, no lookalikes!

Wow. I did not realise how small Kevin Hart is. As many fans of Kevin Hart will already know, he has travelled to Manchester for his What Now tour in the UK. But what we were not aware of was that, his presence was not only going to be at The Manchester Arena.

Waiting patiently at the Printworks Odeon in Manchester for the exclusive release of Ride Along 2…

We began to lose our patience as it hit 7:00pm. Please bear in mind that, the showing stated 6:15pm on the ticket. I was here to review the film, meanwhile my boyfriend was there simply for the entertainment. At this exclusive screening, I wondered why there was a need for security.

We queued outside screen 11 until we were directed in the cinema room. As we finally entered, we could not believe how packed it was. After a few moments everybody was seated and waiting for the film to start.

Suddenly, we heard “Yo, yo, yo! What’s happening Manchester?” Yes, I know what you are thinking. Who the hell is that? It was only Ice Cube and Kevin Hart!

When did this start happening?

When do you see celebrities, that are stars from a film, come to Manchester to introduce the film? Never. This is what it all the better experience. It is safe to say that, the fuzzy speakers and greedy man taking up chairs for his belongings did not bother me anymore.

Kevin Hart is so comical and when I seen Ice Cube I couldn’t help but think about his music and singing “You can do it. Put your back into it.”

Take a look of the footage we recorded. The sound does go quieter as their microphones stopped working.

Breakout Escape Room in Manchester

Breakout Manchester is a live escape room. You’re locked in a room with friends, family or work colleagues. This is for an hour and have to solve a series of puzzles and mysteries to escape. You search high and low for clues and work together if you want to escape. You have 60 minutes to escape by using your brain. There are no physical activities or challenges involved in the game.

You have eight rooms to choose from but which one do you think you can escape from?

If you want a thrilling and exciting activity with a group of people of your choice, then go for it! Be aware that there are two Breakout locations though, as me and my friends did not realise until we turned up at the wrong one of the day but we still made it in time to High Street for the Vacancy room.

We were very excited to participate in this game and were waiting over the past few weeks with anticipation wondering what it would be like. It is safe to say that it was not what I expected… it was much better. Throughout the whole duration of the game, there was not a moment of boredom or tension between our friendship group. Whenever one of us missed something out, or was taking longer than expected, we laughed and were eager to finish the task.

Breakout is such a fun experience

Obviously, I cannot give too much away, but be prepared and realise that just because a room says 4 out of 5 difficulty does not mean that it is as easy as it sounds with it not being 5 out of 5 difficulty. Just when you think it has all come to an end, there are more puzzles to be solved. Unfortunately, we were not part of the 45% who have successfully broke out of the Vacancy room; however, we are determined to be breakout next time! I wonder which room we will choose…

Check out Breakout Manchester’s Trip Advisor reviews. I have to agree as it is excellent!

Such a fantastic experience! We were a group of 5 people and only one of us had experienced a Breakout challenge before, however, it was different to the one we opted for, which was Vacancy. This room is rated 4/5 difficulty and we were so close to breaking out.

We got to the very end hurdle and our host said if we had around 30 more seconds, we would have completed the challenge. It is great fun and definitely leaves you wanting more. My friends and I would like to return to try out another room to see if we can break out next time!”
