Sharing My Thoughts About Goals and Gratefulness for This Year

After reflecting on 2016, it’s time to look towards gratefulness and the future. I didn’t make it as a finalist for the UK Blog Awards but that will not affect any of the motivation that I have for new opportunities this year. Let’s think about gratefulness.

Gratefulness isn’t difficult to show

I haven’t always been someone who gets something as soon as they go for it. I believe in reaching higher with each step – the amount of steps you want to take is up to you. You don’t go to the gym on day one and lose all the weight you wish to in that one workout, do you?

Talking of the gym, I bought some active wear today as I joined the gym a couple of days ago. I used to go to the gym when I was 16-17 years old for around a year or so. I quit the gym because since my gym partner wasn’t around, I didn’t seem to have as much motivation for it anymore. I did start to go on my own but then I just completely stopped.

I am not the fittest person alive nor am I the least fit. I just want to feel good about myself. I simply want to be someone who keeps a little fitter than they do at the moment. I am also at that age where eating, eating, and more eating becomes to have an impact on your weight. It hasn’t majorly affected me but I can tell – as we all can when it’s our own bodies.

I believe that there will be plenty of opportunities ahead of us all this year. For me, I want to take each day to see myself in a better light. I saw a meme the other day that said something along the lines of, let this be the year that we begin to love ourselves more. Since reading it, I actually took the time for it to sink in. Not of all us value ourselves as much as we should.

We all have our habits

I have an awful habit of putting myself down a lot but I am also a positive person – yes it is possible. We might not always perform to our best once you know someone’s put you up on a pedestal and then others have high expectations of you. There will always be pressure from something or someone in life but it doesn’t always have to be a bad thing.

If someone is going to pay you a compliment, why not take it and say thank you?

It could have much more of a positive effect on the rest of your day/week/month/year than you realised. Smile and be happy.

Whenever pressure isn’t on your side and it doesn’t give you the motivational boost that you hoped for, remember that not everything has to be done now. Everyone drives me crazy constantly telling me to drive and other ways to live my life. Call me stubborn but I will do it when I want to.

My outlook doesn’t impress everyone but I’m just trying to be me. Maybe when I’m ready and I really have the determination for it then I will go for it. Also, I am perfectly happy making my way around at the moment. I have no major issues traveling to and from work. Like I said, maybe it will come to me one day.

Goals for 2017

My biggest goal for 2017 is to move out with Daniel. I’m not sure if anyone definitely understands the amount of happiness this would bring us. Until then, we will keep working together to make sure that it happens. There are many things that have been controlled due to living in our own homes but moving out is one thing that I do believe will happen this year.

It would definitely clear my mind from the easily stressed person that I can be when I just need my own space and when I need Daniel.

I would just like to continue to travel on our own path. I am the type of person who likes to make my own choices and I haven’t always gone on the path that my parents or family members. I don’t mean that I’ve gone on a downwards spiral, I mean that I like to made decisions based on the things that are really me rather that what people expect me to be.

Let’s hope that 2017 brings many wonderful memories for us all. Here’s to taking chances and making the most of what 2017 has to offer. I’m sure there will be more reasons to spread gratefulness.

  1. Such a lovely positive post! It seems like you’ve got a really good mind frame for the year ahead, which is the first step to making it a great year! Working out is an amazing way to feel better in general, not just about your body, and it’s definitely something I’ve put on the backseat last year but, like you, I want to get back into it this year! And making decisions for yourself is the best thing you can do – only you know what you really want and what is best for you! 😊 xx

    1. Thank for you so much for reading. I’m glad that you can relate to it too. You’re right, working out definitely is a way to feel better. I hope you achieve your goals for this year – good luck with everything 😊 xx

  2. Putting more positivity into the world is a lovely thought and it definitely starts with you – accepting compliments from others and being thankful for all the good that we have in our lives.

All the best for you and your goals in 2017!

Thank you for popping by and commenting 🙂

  3. I definitely know how it feels to generally be a positive person and have positive mindsets when it comes to life, but also finding it difficult to look positively upon myself and accept compliments when they’re given! Something that I’m also trying to do more of this year is work on accepting compliments with grace and saying thank you rather than denying what has been said! I’ve also decided I want to work on giving more compliments too, and putting more positivity out into the world! Best of luck with your moving out plans, I know what it’s like to be desperate for your own space! I’m sure you’ll get there!

  4. Good luck with all your goals! & I totally agree about the moving out part, me and boyfriend moved in together 2 years ago and I promise it will be the best thing you ever do, I hope you manage to get your happy ending and get your own place this year. You deserve it! x

  5. Love this post! Very motivational for me, I needed to read something like this to get me motivated and build confidence! I also used to go the gym when I was 16/17 but I never really liked it! But I’m on a health kick now! X
